GIVEN the stables recent racetrack success, it was with great anticipation that Mangalore Park and Goodwin Racing travelled to the time honoured Karaka New Zealand sales to represent their loyal clients to source a number of quality new bloodstock.
Over 1200 lots were offered at the famous sales grounds with the team inspecting many elite thoroughbreds.
“We went searching for a wide variety of horses suiting a range of budgets from early going types to the classic New Zealand stayers”
“We’re really excited by what we we’re able to secure and all have now arrived at Mangalore Park and settled in as well as we hoped,” Reece Goodwin explained.
The standout lot was Lot 926; the colt was in high demand as the half-brother to Mr Quickie, a winner of six of his eight starts including three at metropolitan level and most recently an eye-catching Flemington winner on March 2.
See below links to pedigree pages and images, purchase price and comments on why they joined the team from Reece Goodwin.
Lot 723 – Conributer x Femme Britannia, $30,000
“Thought he was the steal of the sale at just $30,000, he’s a half-brother to a Group 3 winner! A late foal but he’s certainly going to mature into a lovely horse.”

Lot 965 – Vespa x Tzarina Star, $14,000
“This colt was super value at just $14,000. He’s well put together with a great attitude. He has all the right signs of making a nice racehorse and the mare has already produced two winners from as many runners on the track.”
Lot 1053 – Ocean Park x Coyote Miss, $17,500
“A filly that could take some time but we’re sure she can reach high levels. We’ve got our eyes set on an Oaks path with this girl and she’s got the right attributes to go with it. Scope, length, sensible attitude and a pedigree page to back her up.”
Lot 1063 – Iffraaj x Daystar $40,000
“Not our biggest horse but she’s certainly got strength and power! She is a half-sister to a 7x listed winner in Singapore and there is plenty to like about her.”
